Much to my chagrin, I won exactly ZERO of the Giveaway Day giveaways. Can you believe it?!
I must have used up all of my luck landing the little lime-sized baby that's in my belly! Well, that's a contest I was happy to win. That's right, I'm pregnant with my first little one. This little boy or girl will join big sister Chloe, my exuberant 8-year old stepdaughter, who has been waiting for years for us to break this news to her! Here's a pic of her bouncing wildly right after we shared the exciting announcement:
I'm due on December 9th and hopefully we'll find out the gender on July 7th - little more than a month away! Fortunately, Chloe will be able to accompany us to that appointment and will learn the news when we do. She has already chosen the names Jordan, for a boy, and Sally, for a girl. :)
So in celebration of this great development, and despite my utter lack of luck in the giveaways, I have decided to hold my own giveaway. I've settled on giving away a cute and functional Summertime Messenger Bag. The best part is that the prize will be specially crafted with the winner in mind! So leave a comment with what you'd like the inspiration for this bag to be if you're the winner.
I'll accept comments until Thursday, May 27th at 11:59pm PST. On Friday I'll choose a winner using a random number generator - so be sure to include your email address so I can contact you! I'll probably solicit some more of your ideas on what you'd like the bag to look like, then I'll get to work on it after our long Memorial Day weekend at the Oregon Coast. (ps: I'll ship internationally!)
In the meantime, here's a photo of the one project I've found the energy to work on in these harrowing first months of pregnancy! This sunglasses case was a birthday gift for my dear friend, Sarah. Kudos to her on snapping a great pic. :)

Congrats on your pregnancy! I'm new to your blog (just hopped over from CL where I saw your posting) and always glad to meet a fellow PDX blogger (although I've been on hiatus for a while). So please enter me in your contest! And if I win and you need inspiration, think lemon with a twist – whatever that means to you ;)
ReplyDeleteInspiration: ballet.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I am so glad I followed you over here! I am in desperate need of a new bag. I need something that's easy to find my keys in, and which works as a mama carry-all bag. I love simple designs, and I'd love to carry something that feels stylish and minimal, not diaper-baggy.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your pregnancy!! Very exciting. And great to be out of the morning-sickness phase. Coincidentally, we're headed to Portland in just a few weeks time. I can't wait!
Turquoise and brown is what I have in mind. Or something summery. :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I have been looking for a new bag that says "cool, hip, mom hanging out at the park"...
ReplyDeleteWow, Sara, congratulations on your great news!
ReplyDeleteToo bad you didn't win any baby stuff in one of the contests, but I imagine you'll start to get lots of cute things over the next few months, esp. after you find out whether you're having a boy or a girl. I followed you over here from Seedling's blog because I figured you must be a talented sewer (I guess the technical term is seamstress), too. I could definitely use a messenger bag to help lug around things for my growing family. Please enter me! My inspirations are patchwork, Persian rugs, nature tones, burgundy and cranberry reds, all shades of blue, birds and insect shapes, etc. Looking at older posts on things you've stitched, I know whatever you make will be fabulous.
Hope you're having a great day!

Inspiration? How about feathering a nest! Something you are probably in the process of doing as you prepare for your wee one. Congrats on your chickadee on the way!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for you and Jesse on the baby news!
ReplyDeleteI have the same luck as you when it comes to winning anything, NONE!
Inspiration: Gray. I am currently going through a gray phase and I am unable to control it
Congratulations! I didn't win anything either! For inspiration think of something with Blue and Green -
ReplyDeletepaper airplanes.
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
ReplyDeleteOh and don't feel bad, I didn't win anything either, boo hoo. For the Sew Mama Sew giveaways, there were so many people entering, so that's not too surprising.
My inspirations are orchids and other spring ephemerals. Also love the inspiration posted above: feathering a nest. Thanks!

I have this fascination with golden, sunshine yellow when summertime hits and it's a real bummer because my skin won't let me wear it...so the combo of that beautiful, rich, happy yellow combined with a gorgeous, moody graphite grey ( to reflect my sadness for not being able to wear the yellow). Of course paisley and tiny stripes like an expensive French made men's shirt are always welcome and so are teeny owl shapes that aren't literal owls... Odd but I totally feel it!
ReplyDeletelove the red and aqua...such a great color combination!
